The Exhibit was founded in 2010 by Past Editor-in-Chief, Kelly Novahom, and the student staff, writers and contributors who helped create the magazine's premiere issue (published Winter Quarter 2011).

The Exhibit is a collaborative effort, put together by University of California, Irvine undergraduates, to challenge the views and perceptions on the viability of the study of the Humanities. The Exhibit exists to serve the purpose of student self-expression in contact with the Humanities and to dispel any criticism of the functionality and application of that discipline. We will strive to present works that penetrate not only the very fabric of our lives but works that build connections over time from our own working knowledge to our participation in local, national, and international debate. We will aspire to achieve diversity in thought and learning and we will be critical and analytical of our subjects from every point and angle.
